Misunderstandings Of Yoga Practice

Misunderstanding 1: Only those whose bodies are soft and flexible are suitable for practicing yoga.

In fact, it is your body becomes soft because of yoga practice rather than that only soft bodies are suitable for practicing yoga. In addition, yoga aims at moderating stress, but not the pursuit of big range of actions. As long as you have tried your best, you can achieve satisfactory results.

Misunderstanding 2: Yoga is simply a weight-loss campaign.

But in fact, the ultimate goal of yoga practice is the balance among body, mind and spiritual (instinctive perception of things). You can not only become healthy, but also obtain mental health and instinctive development. As for fitness, the role of yoga also includes regulation of endocrine, treatment and adjuvant treatment of diseases, reduction of fatigue and stress. Therefore, the point of view that merely considers yoga practice to be a means of weight-loss is not complete. Weight-loss is just one of the aims of yoga practice.

Misunderstanding 3: Yoga is a practice only for females. Although yoga has been welcomed by a lot of women groups, yoga is not unique to women. In fact, the initial yoga practitioners (or inventor) are all males; this can be confirmed by a lot of yoga moves. In addition, today’s well-known yoga masters are almost all men. In some European and American countries, the proportion of men practicing yoga is even higher than that of women.

Misunderstanding 4: People should practice Yoga in groups in order to get a particular atmosphere.

Group practice has its unique atmosphere, but yoga is essentially a way of self-attendance, therefore, the process of self-practice makes it more easily for you to throw into it, and has a multiplier effect.

Misunderstanding 5: Yoga is like jiu-jitsu or dance. The purpose of yoga exercise is totally different from those of jiu-jitsu and dance, whose primary purpose is performances. The purpose of yoga is to conduct a comprehensive practice in three areas: body, mind and spirit. The process needs the co-ordination of various techniques such as posture, breathing, meditation, relaxation in order to gain complete health and self-attendance. Therefore, yoga has the same appearance with jiu-jitsu and dance, but they differ a lot in their spirit.

Misunderstanding 6: Stick to exercise is a painful. Yoga is not a tiring exercise; on the contrary, it can minimize your fatigue and radiate your spirit. Any kind of exercise requires long-term adherence in order to have impressive results!
