The Wrong Opinions of Skin Protection

The first misconception is that, the UV (ultraviolet irradiation) is very strong only under the hot temperature. The real situation is that the UV can not give out heat. For example, when climbing, closer to the top of mountain, cooler the wind is, but the UV is much stronger. Commonly, up to each 1,000 meters, UV will increase 10%. The same is true of the sea. Although the sea breeze makes you feel cool, the UV has reached an extremely high level. Therefore, no matter cloudy days or sunny days, the ultraviolet irradiation exists. Particularly, do not think that, on cloudy day, the UV will not be harmful to the skin because of the thick clouds! In fact, clouds have no effect on isolating ultraviolet irradiation. 90% of ultraviolet irradiation can penetrate clouds. Hence, care for skin protection even on cloudy days.
The second wrong opinion is that sun protection lotion can exert an effect at once when applying it. Actually, the active ingredients in sun protection lotion can play a long-term protective effect after penetrating to the skin’s cuticle. Hence, people should apply the lotion more than 30 minutes before going out and apply again when leaving. For the dose, each time is at least one to two ml which can achieve a best efficacy. Moreover, sometimes, people think that it is no great impact to occasionally forge to apply sun protection lotion.
Virtually, this idea is wrong. The sunburn is cumulative, so that although the skin is only indirectly received sunshine, the damage to skin can be accumulated over a long time. Generally, if go to office, you can choose lotion with SPF15, PA +; if outdoor sports, lotion with SPF25 ~ SPF35, PA + + should be better; if go to seashore for swimming, it is best to choose lotion with SPF35 ~ SPF50, PA + + +. In addition, the real effect of sun protection depends on the sun protection lotion with the higher SPA, so there is no need to use two kinds of lotion at the same time for your skin.
